It's a multiform entity based on interaction and development that offers endless possibilities for connection and interpretation, occupying space and creating space at the same time; It is a visual space for meeting, exchange, and transformation in one, generating awareness of mental processes, making mental issues tangible and discussable.
Family Fountains Art project is an intersection of mental skill development and art by artist and certified mental coach Reggie Voigtländer. The project aims to contribute to the global women empowerment movement: By not only creating awareness or discussion, but actually contribute to development and real change.
The installation can be presented in a classical exhibition format or booked as part of a mental coaching training on location. Contact through links below or LinkedIn.
From artistic research to interactive sculptural installation
Installation 'Family Fountain' arose from a study into understanding the 'family system', which essentially influences all human functioning and actions. In this way, 'Family Fountain' represents a basis from which everything in the world manifests and can manifest. The installation ‘Family Fountain’ invites one to explore one’s inner world and how it relates to the tangible world, the everyday world. It is built from a minimalistic attitude, according to the natural principle multiplying and dividing, in line with the magical geometric principles of the universe.

Centre Space - Space Within Space
The sculptural centre space consists of willow branches and electrical conduits, making it as vulnerable as the family system. The inside is filled with carpet and a round mirror is lying on the floor: The look downward reveals what is above. It is an open space; there is no beginning and end point, but connectedness and openness.
Visitors can choose how much and what to see and get to know. One can walk around the installation, meander through it and take a seat in the centre of the installation. There, something from the inner self that needs attention, can be recognised, acknowledged, inspected, nurtured and even shared, to receive back positive energy and continue with new insights.
Performance video
With the willow branch element comes a performance video. To make the flow of the family fountain tangible, I developed a construction of willow branches consisting of increasingly larger layers built up from three standing circles and a supporting one. I placed these over my head during each phase. These actions were captured on photo, which I then processed into a performance video animation.
Can lids hanging in the top part expose recognisable limiting self talk and beliefs; like sharp mirrors, reflecting what's hidden inside minds.
'Family Fountains' - series of ink paintings
At the cradle of the project lies a series of ink paintings in which I imagined how my family fountain could look like. These works came from inside. Each next painting builds on the previous, having in mind art historic development from modernism to contemporary art.
Sculptural light elements
After the 'Family Fountains' series other intuitive ink work came into existence. They arise from a meditative way of painting that I developed more and more after that first series. I named them 'Light Works'. While I was developing the concept for the installation, I realised that they could be worked out into actual 'Light Beings': Figures that bring light into the darkness that the installation also contains. That's why in and around the centre, there's a number of 'Light Beings' accompanying visitors in their journey. The used material in the form of homely elements emphasises the underlying theme of the family system.
